I didn't think I would love this summer's shorts trend, but with a little Jergens Natural Glow on my legs each morning, I'm warming up to them!
The trouble I'm having is finding lightweight tops that keep me cool without showcasing the, ahem, bit of muffin top around my shorts' waistline. I'm (FINALLY!) happy with my weight right now, but being pregnant with the World's Largest Baby (10 pounds at birth & 2 weeks early!) took its toll, and I'm afraid that bit of flab around my waistline is there to stay.
Fortunately, there's a very cute and stylish solution:
THE VEST. Whether you opt for denim, jersey knit, or crochet, there's one that's right for you -- and it'll keep you from sucking in all summer long while sporting shorts.
Here are a few of my favorite affordable vests of the season ...
The crochet vest is super-hot right now and I absolutely love the look. Depending on what you wear it with, this On the Road Again Crochet Vest (Ruche, $32.99) could look either romantic or boho.
For slightly more coverage around the midsection, you could opt for this As the Crochet Flies Vest (ModCloth, $34.99), which has the same vintage-y appeal.
Bargain hunters can't argue with the price of this hip Open Neck Racerback Vest (Charlotte Russe, $10.20 on sale!), which also comes in off-white and two other colors!
I'm loving this cute Ribbed Ruffled Vest (J.Crew, $49.99 on sale!). Just don't wear it with a belt like the unfortunate model above. Or "painter's jeans." Ugh.
If you're not the ruffles type, how about the minimalist style of this Wyatt Taupe Jersey Draped Vest (Bluefly, $38)?
This Adelaide Denim Cut-Off Vest (LuckyBrand.com, $49.99 on sale) is a classic look.
Finally, yes it's expensive, but I JUST LOVE this Three Dots Striped Long Open Vest (Neiman Marcus, $97 on sale).
So what do you think? Are you down with a vest for summer?
