Hot summer rays ... cue melting makeup.
I live in NYC where it gets sweltering. Like oppressive hot. Like I can't breathe hot. Okay, maybe it's not as bad as in the deep South, but whoa it's humid hot.
The sun bounces off buildings and gets trapped, making the air thick and gross ... I won't even talk about the subways!
So when it gets that hot, I skip the makeup. After all, by the time I'm getting where I'm going, it's running down my face and I have little sweat beads clinging to my upper lip and brow.
I've found one thing that does stay put ... lip stain. And just a little color on my lips is enough for me for summer.
It's not as heavy as gloss and lipstick and gives your lips color without going anywhere. I love this creamy Laura Mercier Lip Stain ($20) that provides subtle sheen and color.
I heart these, too ...
Josie Maran's Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain ($19) is just that. This eco stain looks just like a marker and can be applied to your pucker and apples.
It's also free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and petrochemicals. I'm eyeing the Jive in coral pink.
This Lorac Sheer Wash ($20) is a cult favorite among beauty junkies. It glides on with a sheer color and lasts all day long. The travel size is perfect for popping in your clutch and it can be used on your lips, eyes, and cheeks. Multipurpose? I like!
Would you try lip stain? What's your solution for melting makeup on hot days?

I love the Laura Mercier stain, it's a great summer product. Actually, I love most all Laura Mercier products ...
I've never tried it. Looks interesting.
I don't wear any makeup in the summer, save for a touch of mascara....it's too much hassle and it's always running down my face by the time I get where I'm going....I don't wear lipstick, ever, so lip stain just wouldn't do it for me...but it's a good Idea for those who DO wear it!
Lip stain? I've never heard of it, but if it stays on better than lip stick or lip gloss, it's worth a try. I usually stick to my Strawberry Chapstick.
To hot in the summer for me to wear makeup.
