Me with my sonI love tattoos. I've been thinking about what I am going to get in honor of my kids, so I've been checking out what other moms have done and also just looking at all the beautiful tattoos on moms in the CafeMom community and beyond.
I have some tattoos already. My arm has the om in the center, which symbolizes the unity of all religions, and it's also the first sound. Around it is an open lotus and then there is a dragon that wraps around that with several cherry blossoms.

Bren07's tattoos are for her boys. So sweet! The one in the middle is for her oldest son. It's his birth footprint with his name, David Isaiah, and his birth date 6-2-07. The other one is a little lion cub sitting on a water lily for her youngest son with his name Landon Xtofer and birth date 7-25-09.

This was the first tattoo purpleducky got. It represents her family and her husband has a matching one. The two hearts represent them as a couple and the zodiac symbols represent their sons. It was designed by her, mimicking her wedding ring. Great colors -- I love that it isn't outlined in black.

These pretty tattoos on littleonions have the footprints of both her children with their names. Letha's tattoo is on her right ribcage and, just like her birth, it hurt more than Leland's on her left.

I love tattoos on the back of the neck (I have one there, too!) and RanaAurora has a really pretty one back there.

I have a circle of four dolphins that I designed with the work OHANA in the middle. Each dolphin represents a member of my family. I also have two dolphins jumping tail to nose making a heart, one is pink one is blue representing me and my husband. I got this one while he was deployed to Iraq to keep him close.
i only have one on my back for my mom. she raised me on her own pretty much, and i love her so much more for it
I have 3 tats, one at the base of my neck and between my shoulders represents me family. It has a yin yang background with an orca and dolphin with our kids initials underneath them, also in a yin yang type of position, then a lei of yellow roses beneath it.
The orca and dolphin represent our son and daughter respectively, the lei of roses represent myself and my husband (yellow roses were the first bouquet of flowers he ever bought for me), and of course the yin yang background is about maintaining the balance between who I am as an individual and who I am as both wife and Mother.
Oh and the lei of roses are at the bottom of the tattoo because ad parents, we are the foundation upon which our family is built.
I love tattoos, my only regret is having small ones, but I am planning on putting them together with some more large designs around them. I have 10 tattoos and some symbolize something, others I just loved the art. Where I live, many people take offense to tattoos, even if they are not offensive! But I say you don't have to like em, it's my body and it's a beautiful art of expression. My mom and dad love my tattoos!
