Me with my sonI love tattoos. I've been thinking about what I am going to get in honor of my kids, so I've been checking out what other moms have done and also just looking at all the beautiful tattoos on moms in the CafeMom community and beyond.
I have some tattoos already. My arm has the om in the center, which symbolizes the unity of all religions, and it's also the first sound. Around it is an open lotus and then there is a dragon that wraps around that with several cherry blossoms.

Bren07's tattoos are for her boys. So sweet! The one in the middle is for her oldest son. It's his birth footprint with his name, David Isaiah, and his birth date 6-2-07. The other one is a little lion cub sitting on a water lily for her youngest son with his name Landon Xtofer and birth date 7-25-09.

This was the first tattoo purpleducky got. It represents her family and her husband has a matching one. The two hearts represent them as a couple and the zodiac symbols represent their sons. It was designed by her, mimicking her wedding ring. Great colors -- I love that it isn't outlined in black.

These pretty tattoos on littleonions have the footprints of both her children with their names. Letha's tattoo is on her right ribcage and, just like her birth, it hurt more than Leland's on her left.

I love tattoos on the back of the neck (I have one there, too!) and RanaAurora has a really pretty one back there.

Nuh uh! I wanna see it, Michele! That's awesome, and religiously relevant for our family as well.
Yes...I have one tattoo...it's Woodstock surfing on my ankle.
I have 7 tattoos in all, but I will be getting another one sometime after this baby is born. I have my daughters' footprints from when they were born and their names and birth dates on my back. It goes up my spine like they are walking up my back. I will be adding my baby boys name, birth date and footprints to it when I am done being pregnant. I waited a long time to get something for my girls because I couldn't decide what I wanted. Footprints are something that they will never out grow like cartoon characters.
i have four tattoos.
i got my first two in my early 20s a couple of months apart. one is a sunflower on my left (outter) ankle, and the other is a heart made of white flowers on my right shoulder. basically, those two didn't have much thought put into them...
then i had breast cancer. my next tattoo was in celebration of five years cancer free, and it's a butterfly (the body of which is a pink ribbon) on the back of my neck. then, for my birthday this year, i had the word survivor tattooed on the inside on my left wrist (my fave, but probably because it's the one i can see easily all the time).
as for the pain, the ankle hurt, the shoulder not at all, the back of neck was brutal for me (and this was post multiple cancer surgeries, chemo and radiation, and i think my pain threshold is pretty darn high!) and the wrist hurt a little, but was over in about a minute.
I don't have any tattoos and at 45, I think it is a bit late to start. I think they are cool though.
Love the tattoos! I have a flower and banner with my daughter's name on the inside of my left forearm, and a large piece down the left side of my back of pansies and feathers, that ends with a feather pen/inkwell that signifies my passion as a writer. I tend to get tatts when I am feeling joyful.
Not sure if I will get any more - my artist is recovering from a brain aneurysm, and I've been diagnosed with diabetes.
I have my daughters name almost wrapped around my left ankle with swirls like design and the beginning and at the end. My husband and I designed it. Im thinking of getting another one.
I have two tattoos: a butterfly above my left ankle and the chinese character for "strong willed" on my right arm. I want to get a third on my left wrist: three little stars with my kids' first initials inside each: C (Cameron), J (Julian) and L (Lillian).
Tattos are not for me but good for you if you like them
