Photo by Brianne DiSylvesterWhen I hear side ponytail, the image of the '80s version pops into my head.
You know the one -- the ridiculous fountain of hair jutting out from the side of your noggin.
Well these days, the new version is a lot more sophisticated than you think.
See how to get the look ...
- After washing and towel drying your hair, make a deep part on either side of your hair (whichever you prefer).
- Blow-dry starting at your scalp and work your way down.
- Leave the ends just a little bit damp.
- Comb through your hair again and add a smoother or light gel to tame flyaways.
- Tuck behind your ears and bring your hair to the opposite side that your part is on.
- Secure in a low ponytail with a hair tie and tighten.
- Lightly push up the back of your hair to create a little pouf.
- Twist the ponytail with a light gel to get that ringlet look.

LOL...would I try it..haha, E-YA, I'm usually sporting a side ponytail, guess I really am stuck in the 80's.
it looks great on you! I love the side pony -- a nice variation for those of us who never have time to blow dry our hair so it's always in a ponytail!
I love it! I've been doing it for a while but mainly at home. I use it because my hair is all long now and most of the time when I try to pull it back in another form of pony tail, all the weight goes to my "bangs" (I don't have any, lol, but that area.) and it HURTS! The side pony tail keeps that from happening and it is super cute, too!
Yes, sometimes a conventional ponytail hurts not to mention is kills my hair from always redoing it to make it tighter.
The low one I never have to fix!
Super cute!
That one is cute. I have never been a fan of the side pony tail. I need some symmetry to my hair.
No side ponytails here but it looks cute in the above picture
i have done it when my hair was longer. i sure miss my long hair.
