When Good Hair Tips Go Bad

"The Onion," that five-minutes-before-bed hairstyle I told you about has gotten a lot of attention!

Jessica wrote:

"I did this last night and it worked! I've gotten compliments on my hair all day. I too have stick straight hair and hair that never holds curl. I did the four buns and while they were still a little damp this morning, I just took them down and dried them with a blow drier on low for a few seconds... My hair still looks good 14 hours afterwards!"

And Amber wrote:

"I tried this last night. Jumped in the shower, washed my hair, got out and did two buns on the side of my head. Nothing fancy--just wrapped my hair in a tight bun and put a hairband around it. Got up the next morning, put some mousse in my hair and went to work. I've been getting compliments all day long!"

This photo is extra funny if you've met Kyran in person. Her hair always looks gorgeous and she's the epitome of style. The truth is, I feel sort of horrible about this hairtastrophe. I owe you a drink, Kyran!

Awww, I feel like I'm famous now because you used my "onion" review. Does that make me pathetic or just a stalker? :) Poor Kyran! I think that's deserving of more than 1 drink!!

Sigh. I tried the Onion too, and it was a MESS. I have pretty thick hair, so maybe that's why it looked so bad. I was hoping it would work for me, but no dice. :)

I'm trying it tomorrow night after I teach swimming lessons. I'll wait until I get home from the Y to put the "onions" on my head of course. I think it will work for me as long as my hair dries.

I think the lesson learned here is that it's only for those with long, stick-straight hair. As long as that's the case, I bet it'll look great!

I used to do this when I was a teenager. A few times, my hair probably turned out like Kyran's. All I can say is thank goodness it was the 80's. My oldest likes me to put two french braids in her hair while it's wet, wear it the next day, then take it out the next and have the waves. It usually actually stays, which never happens with curling iron type curls.
