Help Desk: How Should I Wear My Scarf?

I have gotten several requests asking how to tie a scarf. Well friends, I'm here to help!

Or actually, Melanie of The Big Mama Blog is. She produced, directed and starred in this video last year and it may be the first blogger video that I've ever been able to watch in its entirety. And that's saying something, people, because it is almost ten minutes long! Melanie is that good!

Also? It has some great tips on scarf tying. This video actually taught me how to wear scarves- I watched it and have been wearing them ever since. Thanks, Melanie!

Perfect videos! Especially the first one! and I love the braided effect of the second one. I've only recently started wearing scarves because I thought (wrongly, I hope) that I was too short and stubby for scarves. What do you think? Can short and curvy women still pull off scarves?

I think it depends on the way you wear it- and that's true for anyone. Short and curvy, in my opinion, would look best with a lighter weight scarf (like chiffon or jersey for spring) and not a lot of bunchiness around the neck. You might want to do a simple knot and let the rest of it flow. I've found wearing the scarf long and flowing is a great way to draw attention away from my midsection, too! I often add a scarf to a body-hugging dress, just so I don't feel like I have to suck in all day long.

Thanks for posting this! I have become obsessed with scarves over the past few months and have purchased many - there are so many great ones now and they can really add diversity to the wardrobe!

And forgot to add... You've created scarf horders out of my children, too. I had to order pashminas for my 6 yo and 4 yo. I have officially started sharing clothes with my daughters. I bet you can write a blog post about that, too. Not sure what I'm getting into.
