Lace Up Oxfords: Yay or Nay?

Steve Madden at ShopStyle

One Spring style I just can't ignore anymore is the lace-up Oxford. They are all the rage this Spring, they are meant to be worn bare-legged with shorts or dresses (J. Crew paired them with footies like the ones you use to try on shoes at the mall!), and...

No offense. But I hate them. They remind me of the late eighties. In fact, I think I had a pair in eighth grade and that was an awkward time fashion-wise and well, in every other way. So I'm having trouble with this trend.

That's not to say I can't be persuaded, or that I'll think badly of anyone who loves them. They're not totally offensive like harem pants. They're just... not my thing.

What do you think? Will you buy a pair and wear them with dresses and without socks? Or will you be skipping this trend, too?

Oh yeah, in full disclosure, I'm a compensated ShopStyle affiliate and for the record, I could almost get behind those brown leather heels. I said almost.
