As is the case with every major Hollywood awards ceremony, the stars showed up in gowns that sizzled... and gowns that fizzled.

First, let's take a look at the winners.

My vote for Best Dressed: Jennifer Garner. Hands down. Her Versace dress was a perfect fit that highlighted her slim figure and her hair and makeup were flawless.

Nicole Kidman always looks gorgeous and Golden Globes night was no exception.
Kate Winslet always makes good fashion choices. She looked marvelous in Yves Saint Laurent.

Ordinarily, Christina Aguilera makes my teeth hurt, but on Golden Globes night, she looked absolutely magnificent in this Versace gown.

Not everyone could have pulled this gown off, but Diane Kruger certainly managed in Christian Lacroix Couture.

Gucci-clad Olivia Wilde made women the world over gnash their teeth in envy.

Penelope Cruz was stunning in this Giorgio Armani Privé gown.

Courtney Cox stunned as well in a black dress by Victoria Beckham. Clearly, keeping your look simple and classic is always a good bet.

Cameron Diaz's red carpet pose left a little something to be desired, but on camera, this Alexander McQueen dress was a stunner.

Kristen Bell looked fabulous. Normally, I don't like shorter dresses at award ceremonies, but girlfriend made it work.
Anna Kendrick looked absolutely lovely.

Zoe Saldana's Louis Vuitton gown looks a little weird in this photo, but she looked fantastic on camera. This gown really has a lot of interest. It's unusual, but still ruffly and feminine and- call me crazy- I liked it!

Emily Blunt's hair could use some work (let's just blame the rain), but her Dolce & Gabbana dress is feminine and fabulous.

Proof that a smile makes the look work. Technically, orange is last year's color, but Samantha Harris's big grin and toned physique make her look radiant.

I'm also loved Rose Byrne's dress. It was simple and sumptuous and wonderfully elegant.
