The Ultimate StatementSpring's statement necklaces have been one of my favorite trends of the season.
I've invested in strands of glass turquoise beads, black Breakfast at Tiffany's-style pearls, and a decadent multi-strand crystal and seed pearl creation. And I wear my statement necklaces all the time.
But this newest addition to my statement collection is hands down my favorite.
It was created by my 6-year-old daughter for Mother's Day -- and I've been wearing it quite a bit.
Why not? The colors in the necklace are perfect for spring and I love the asymmetrical look she achieved by stacking the flower and stars to one side.
I'll admit, of course, that I was sure I'd earn brownie points for wearing her necklace so often -- but I was wrong. Instead, she noticed that I wasn't wearing her work of art the other day and pouted.
"Why aren't you wearing my necklace?" she wanted to know.
The necklace almost made up for something else my daughter brought home from school recently ...
ALMOST. Frankly, it's going to take me a while to get over that.
In the meantime, though, I'd love to know if you wear your children's arts and crafts gifts to you ... or are they too, erm, "precious" to display in public?
