DIY Beet Lip Stain by Brianne DiSylvester
Beets ... love 'em or hate 'em. I unfortunately, think the latter (and I haven't met many kids who like them either).
I've tried to whip them up a variety of ways and it's just not happening. Luckily, for a beauty junkie like myself there's a beet alternative -- turn it into lip stain.
You heard me right. Beets have amazing color -- from bright red to dark merlot -- and are perfect for a little punch of pink on your pout. Tip: Use it as blush, too.
Beet Lip Stain (makes 1/2 ounce)
- 1 beet
- 3 drops of olive oil
- 2 Tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 capsule of vitamin E oil
- Old lip gloss container or pill box
Remove the beet from the stem, wash, and chop into 1-inch pieces. Place in a microwave-safe container and heat on high for 1 minute or until the beet juices ooze out. Combine beet juice, sugar, and oils into a small bowl. Add more sugar by the teaspoon until desired thickness. Pour into your container and let site for 2-3 hours to thicken. Shelf life: 6-8 months.
Tip: Use an old lip stain jar -- just clean it out and replace with beet balm!
