Week 21:

The new food of the week was sweet potatoes -- and Kathryn loved them! They're a close second to bananas. We started those on Tuesday, the day we usually give her a new vegetable. But on Thursday she was acting like she wasn't quite feeling right. So the sweet potatoes may have to go.

Week 19:

This week we started solids. Or rather we started baby food, it is not very solid! Lol.

Week 17:

It has been kind of a rough week. Kathryn has been sick since last Friday.

We took her to the pediatrician Sunday -- I love that our pediatricians have one of their seven offices open 365 days a year! They said her ears, throat, and lungs were all fine and just to keep an eye on her.

The crib sleeping is slowly getting better. Once I change schedules at work at the end of the month and am not on the graveyard shift anymore, we'll get Kathryn on a better daily schedule. I think that will really help her sleep better at night too. At the moment, part of our day is on a pretty consistent (but not set in stone) schedule, but while I'm at work she does things at different times.

Week 15:

Kathryn has discovered her thumb and how to isolate it. Now she is sucking on it quite often. This worries me some. I don't want to have to try to get her to stop sucking her thumb when she gets older. I would much rather break her of a pacifier habit than her thumb. However, it is awfully cute and it is nice that she has a method of self-soothing that works quite well.

Week 14:

Tummy time is going pretty good. I was afraid we weren’t giving her enough but in the last week or so we have seen her lift her head to a 90 degree angle while on her tummy so she must be getting plenty. A few days ago we discovered that if we put her on her tummy on the ottoman of our sofa so she can lift her head and see the tv that she stays happy on her tummy longer. I’ve been trying not to let her watch tv (much) but I know she loves it and if it gets her to hold her head up for a longer period I’m willing to let her watch a little to help strengthen those core muscles.

Week 13:

Last night we decided to try to start transitioning Kathryn to her crib. She has been sleeping in a pack ‘n play in our room since birth. We didn't really have any reason for choosing yesterday to do it other than "we're going to have to do it sometime."

Week 12:

My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day early. Last Tuesday night, my mom babysat Kathryn so we could have a good date night.
