Several popular and everyday baby products were recalled for safety reasons this week. First it was the 635,000 Dorel Asia cribs and then 1.5 million Graco strollers of various models and styles. We've also been hearing a lot about cadmium in children's jewelry.
Makes a mom wonder whether it's safe to even set foot in baby retailers and toy stores anymore.
On one hand, I'm glad the consumer protection police are on the job and taking steps against more tragedies, but unfortunately, most of these recalls happen because a tragedy -- usually involving a baby or child -- has already taken place.
On the other, I'm concerned that all the baby and child product recalls are because more manufacturers are eliminating important steps and making crappy products.

I LONG for the days of 'MADE IN THE USA'!!! We would be so much MORE better off in this country as a whole if we manufactored our own stuff again!!!!!! I hope we do this soon cuz this country will have a brain drain....not too many people left who actually worked/labored in factories.
The drop side crib that had 4 deaths, which prompted a recall was missed by a lot of parents/caregivers. The last I heard the deaths for the same crib had climbed to 11. So not only are there scary recalls, but people are missing out on the notices.
All the more reason we're happy to be attachment parents. No crib defects to worry about when our little guy is safely tucked against my side. No stroller defects to worry about when he was riding on my back or front in an Ergo. The best way to keep them safe is to simplify, simplify, simplify...plus it's a heck of a lot of cheaper and takes up less space in the house!
i dont i have ever had anything be recalled
