Eat Cookies to Make More Breast Milk

I make excuses to eat cookies. This morning I had "breakfast cookies." Nothing special about them. Just regular cookies I happened to eat at breakfastime.

I figure it's the same as having a muffin, which is really "breakfast cake." But everyone calls it a "muffin" because a long time ago someone needed to give people permission to eat dessert in the morning.

Here's an even bettter excuse, a legit excuse, for eating cookies -- Milkmakers Lactation Cookies. told me about them. I wish I was still breastfeeding because I need justification for all the cookies I eat other times of the day.

According to the website, the cookies include special ingredients "including brewer’s yeast and ground flax seed to  enhance the quality and quantity of breast milk produced, making baby’s next feeding easy, filling and more nutritious."

That's nice. But even better, did I mention you get to eat cookies? I couldn't find any scientific studies proving these cookies boost milk production, but I'm willing to overlook that because I tried them and they are absolutely delicious. Soft and chewy, and you can tell they are made from all natural ingredients and no preservatives.

You eat a cookie a day, so it costs you $44 for a 30-day supply. Steep, but you'll shrug that off when you think about an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie made with real butter ... hmm hmm hmm.

I know what you are going to say, but the fact that you can also sprinkle healthful ingredients like flaxseed on your 7-grain unsweetened cereal or oatmeal or other foods is irrelevant. These are cookies. COOKIES!

Would you buy cookies, special tea, or other food items billed to boost breast milk supply? Gonna try lactation cookies?
