This Week's Secret:
My DS is one and my DD is five. I let her watch him while I shower. But it is in an enclosed, gated living room. — anonymous

I only have one child, so I have never done that, but I would definitely leave a one year old with a five year old in a gated, baby proof area for 5 minutes while I was in the shower.
My two are almost ten years apart. Yes I would leave my baby with my son for 30 minutes or so while I showered or did laundry. Never would I ever leave him alone in the house with her though. I just don't think he is prepared to deal with emergencies plus he can be easily distracted by tv and video games. I don't allow him to do those things while he watches her anymore.
I've have definately had my then 3 yr olds entertain my youngest while i had her in a play pen while I showered. How else was going to get it done?
I agree with the first poster :)
While you shower? NO.
While you go pee? Sure.
By the way, I have an infant and a five year old.
I'm not sure about leaving a baby with a 5 year old - that could be kind of risky. But if I were in that situation I would bring them both into the bathroom while I showered and have them play on the floor there with toys or something. Depends I guess.
I only have one child but for the first 6 months of his life i lived with my mom an my 2 nieces. Cheyenne is my oldest niece she is 5 an YES i have left my son with her while i take a shower or check the mail still do if she staying the weekend. Regardless of what people might think of it I've never had to worry about anything happening 2 my son...i trust Cheyenne more then any other adult besides my mom,DH an sister.
