Baby of the Week: Seven

A weekly post to help us get to know some of our CafeMom cuties ...

Who: Seven Simeon, 3 months old, son of BlazzinBebe88. He's a little miracle baby, born about a month early. He had a birth defect called gastroschisis (his bowels and intestines were outside of his body). So near the end of my pregnancy, I had low amniotic fluid and Seven had intrauterine growth restriction. Needless to say, I had to deliver early.

He weighed 4 pounds and 2 ounces. He had surgery immediately after his birth and it was completely successful! The first time I held him he was three days old. And we were released from the hospital about three weeks later. It was a crazy experience I will never take back because it gave me the greatest gift ever.

How long does he sleep at night?

I was lucky for a while -- he was sleeping for a good five to six hour stretch at night. But lately he's up every two to three hours, never longer than that.

What makes him smile?

Sleep! That's about the only time I see him smiling, when he "sleep grins." And his Grandma can sometimes get him to coo and smile for her early in the morning.

What is his latest milestone?

I don't know if it's really a milestone, but for him it definitely is: GROWING! We left the hospital at 5.2 pounds. At his one month checkup, he was 5.5. He was struggling to put on weight and we were all scared. But he quickly passed that and at his two month checkup he was 7 pounds and 10 ounces! That was HUGE for him! I am so proud.

What is his fussiest time of day?

He is really never fussy and as long as I get to him before he's hungry, and he rarely cries! I think he just has "the good life." He's always held, fed and changed -- what more could he want? LOL

What will he do for a career?

A tailor. He is OBSESSED with curtains! And it's not because of lights or shadows. Anything hanging from a wall that looks like a curtain, and any type of curtain or shade, they're his best friend!
