mom secretsIt's hard being a new mom (or even an experienced mom to a new baby) and sometimes we do things we know we shouldn't, despite what all the experts say. But this is a safe place to share your secrets—we won't tell.

This Week's Secret:
I never sterilize my baby's bottles. Not even when they're brand new. I just put it in the dishwasher and wash it that way. — anonymous

I boiled them when i bought them. My mom and sis visit once a week and always ask "are you boiling them". I say yes to shut them up because they are not open to hearing the doctor said its okay to simply wash in soapy water and rinse well. What THEY dont know wont hurt ME :) P.S. my babies just fine

DS has a cold so currently I'm sterilizing his bottles so the infection doesn't linger. He's 3mos now, healthy (got cold from DH), and I've never sterilized his bottles. Doc told me dishwasher sterilizes and if they get filmy or I feel they're not clean enough, boil them.

I soak mine in hot water with about a half cup of vinegar in them. Wash the bottles, nipples, etc., put clean hot water in a bucket or the sink, add vinegar and soak them overnight, rinse well, and you have clean bottles for the next day!
