New Mom Secrets: I Hate Breastfeeding

secrets

It's hard being a new mom (or even an experienced mom to a new baby) and sometimes we do things we know we shouldn't, despite what all the experts say. But this is a safe place to share your secrets—we won't tell.

This Week's Secret:

I hate breastfeeding. I've chosen to breastfeed because I feel it's best for my baby, but I hate doing it. My baby has a hard time latching, gets easily distracted, is fidgety, and rarely stays awake but even when it's not a battle, I still don't like it. — anonymous

it was very difficult in the begiining it hurted so badly! no one told me it would be as hard as it was o hurt as bad as it did..but it is sooo worth it! I love it every time i see hear her gulping, see her toes curling, tug on mommas shirt (all while breast feeding) i am joyful and grateful (that i am able to give such a gift) all over again. And to think i was going to give up at first....

I can't stand breastfeeding, which is half the reason I stopped.

I find it so annoying when people look down on me for bottle feeding. Not knowing what I went through during the birth of either of my boys. I don't brestfeed and didn't with either one. However my kids are happy and healthy. I just wish other moms would be more understanding. I would have loved to brestfeed but it just wasn't what was choose for me. But my boys are good even with that bottle.

codys_momma, just curious... how is that relevant?

Just simply saying that I don't like being looked down on cause I don't brestfeed. Even if you don't like it be happy that your body is working with you. I was simply saying my point of view. Didn't think it was going to be that big of a deal. Something I dis like.

Ah, okay.  I was confused because no one said anything about not breastfeeding, just not enjoying doing it.

I loved it most of the time but it's exhausting being the only person responsible for baby's nourishment.  The late night/early morning feedings, dragging the pump everywhere, making sure you're eating enough and the right stuff, the physical pain of it, the baby constantly being latched to you (literally). I commend you for sticking w/ it even though it's not a great experience for you.
