It's hard being a new mom (or even an experienced mom to a new baby) and sometimes we do things we know we shouldn't, despite what all the experts say. But this is a safe place to share your secrets—we won't tell.
This Week's Secret:
I sometimes use breast milk for food I make if I'm out of store-bought milk. — anonymous

It'd probably be too sweet for most things, but it wouldn't be too bad in dessert type stuff. I've just never done it. My little booby baby doesn't like sharing lol.
I haven't exactly drank it but I have tasted it, and I have used it to make food too.
That is funny! Some people will drink milk that came from a cow's udder (and we haven't even met the cow!) and was intended for cow babies, but they won't drink milk that was meant for humans that comes from our own body? I've never drank my own milk either, something to think about.

This. If people knew what was in their cows milk I don't think they'd be saying EWW to anything!
Of course I've tasted it! I'm not going to feed my children things I haven't tasted.
I take that back... I didn't taste formula when I gave it to my first kiddo... it smelled too nasty.
I've never cooked with breastmilk, but if I was just cooking for my family, was out of other milk, and had some pumped, it'd be mighty tempting... Once I start making Aurora's baby food, there will be breastmilk mixed in there.
I agree with nmmama, by the way. Go to a farm and look at cows, and then tell me that you think they're cleaner than pumped breastmilk.
Well just like cow milk is for BABY cows, human milk is for BABY humans
am I right? haha
I've done it. I was making mac n cheese and I didn't have enough milk so I defrosted some and mixed it in. Honestly, you couldn't tell the difference. It was a little bit creamier because of the higher milk fat, but I thought it was better that way.
I haven't done it since but I'm not against the idea.
It's not so much about age as it's about species. :)
Haha. I've tasted it straight from the tap. You'd be surprised how many bfing mommies try that, lol. I haven't cooked anything for DH and I with it, but I've cooked for my children with it. I'd much rather they have that than cow's milk. I pump a few times a day so that my two older children can drink breastmilk rather than cows milk. They love it.
milk that comes from cows are for COWS and milk that comes from HUMANS are for our LO. Whats the big deal? It seems like we would be more freaked out about drinking cow milk!
