Here's another story about a woman fired for breastfeeding at work—but this one doesn't have such a happy ending...
An Ohio woman was fired from Totes/Isotoner in 2005 for taking unauthorized breaks during work to pump milk. She sued, claiming discrimination against lactating mothers.
She lost the case this week when the Ohio Supreme Court ruled against her, arguing that she should have sought an accommodation from the company instead of taking breaks without permission.
I'm trying not to take a side here, but it seems to me like maybe the court took the easy way out instead of making a decision about the real issue here—whether women should be permitted to pump or breastfeed at work.
What do you think?
