My boys loved to be swaddled when they were babies. The tighter the better. It really helped them sleep.
However, we didn't get a lot of right-sized blankets for swaddling. We got a lot of baby blankets, but not the oversized kind that are perfect for wrapping them up tightly. It's one of those things I wish I'd known to register for.
Over on the purl bee, they have a "how to" for sewing swaddling blankets. Get the perfect sized swaddling blanket in a print you adore. Great idea! Perfect new baby gift too.

i like the giraffe...i like both of them actually.
eh, a little too involved if you ask me. i make my own swaddle blankets with just one large (42x42 or larger preferrably) piece of flannel. no need (with the exception of asthetics) for two fabrics. just hem the edges! moda makes the best flannel for swaddling. nice and stiff (in a good way, and super soft) so it stays. it washes up beautifully.
O.k. I LOVED the prints....not sure about the blanket but I will def. be trying it for the next time around!
