New York City just released its list of the most
popular baby names for boys and girls in 2007. Isabella and Sophia tied for first place for girls, followed by Emily. Daniel, Jayden, and Michael were the top choices for boys.
Meanwhile, over at the Pregnancy Buzz, Cafe Melisa wrote about a cool site called nameberry.com for parents obsessed with distinctive names (in case you have another baby on the way), and she gives us a list of unique baby names like Aza and Siri for girls, and Grover and Reuben for boys.
When you named your baby were you trying for something mainstream and popular? Or did you want your baby to have a one-of-a-kind name?

my daughter is JayLyn. it is unique. I love it. and her birthmom named her, we are very proud to be able to tell her someday that the gift of her beautiful name came from her beautiful birthmother!
My son's name is Armani, I just thought it was a great name for a person!
Ay carumba, with the run on Jayden! How funny. My boys' names didn't make the list. Of course, the only Clydes I know are 80-year old men.
I named my son Robert. We named him after my Dad, but also chose it because it's a name that he can easily do anything with. His buddies can call him Bobby (which we do), he could be a respectable doctor or lawyer going by Robert, or he'd be a great plumber named Bob! I think names can really hold people back, so I wanted to give him options. : )
well when I first looked at the names I didnt think anything of the top charts but they have hit them I have a Morgyn which is (Morgan) and GaBryelle which is (Gabrelle) Both names still are different by spelling but that is it :)
My bby's name is Jude. I've yet to hear this name anywhere. I named him after the Beatle's song.
my nephews name is Jayden, so that's really cool
My daughters' name is Sierra. We named her after the little girl from last years "Are You Smarter Than a Fifith Grader.
Nope, we didn't make the list... I have a Kyan and a Leland
My son is Caiden.. (Caden, Kayden etc.. lots of spellings). It did not make the list last year, but I have heard it soooo often that I would not be surprised if it makes it next year...
