Give Your Baby a White House Welcome

Get a letter from President Obama to your baby

I learned from my friends over at ohdeeoh that you can get an Official White House Birth Greeting. Even if you didn't vote for President Obama, you have to admit, a letter from the White House welcoming your baby into the world is a very cool and historical memento for him or her to have. You must be a citizen of the United States to request one. Here's how to do it, according to ehow.

1. Request a greeting from the president. The request must be made after your baby is born and before he turns one. It takes 6 weeks to process the request.

2. Include your baby's name, address, date of birth (month, day, year), as well as your name and phone number.

3. Send your request ...

By mail to:
The White House
Attn: Greetings Office
Washington, D.C. 20502-0039

By fax to:
202-395-1232

4. Buy a nice frame!

What do you think? Will you get your baby a greeting from President Obama?

No.  Honestly, I don't want anything from him.  But, I have considered doing this as gifts for those who have just had a baby.  I'm going to bookmark this info.  I used to have it but have no clue where I put it.

I did this for both my babies.  It's a great momento regardless of who's in office!  LOL!  I'm not sure who was in office when I was born.  Now both my kids will know who was in office when they were born.

I did this many times when President Bush was in office. It is a nice thing for a baby book. No one I know would appreciate one from Obama.

I did this and I have one from our state governor's office as well.  Its in the scrapbook and everyone who sees it thinks its pretty cool...who cares about the politics, its a great memento!

I wouldnt want one, unless it was from George Bush. I would have LOVED to get one from them then! When she was born, he was president.

You can also request them through most of your district's U.S. Congressman's office.  They are also available for birthdays over 80 y/o, special events, Eagle Scouts, Church b-days, and anniversaries over a certain # of years.
