Would you pump 11 gallons of milk a week?
Have you heard? The woman who delivered eight babies the other day plans on breastfeeding them. She can't nurse them because they're still in the NICU so she'll be pumping every day—experts estimate that she'll need 11 gallons of milk a week. That's a lot of milk! And quite a commitment. I wish her the best of luck.
What do you think? Would you breastfeed eight babies? How about two or three?

Yes. I'd breastfeed or pump as long as my supply would hold out.
Yikes! I would give it a try but considering I didn't have any luck with one I probably wouldn't be able to do it.
I think she's crazy. But hey it's her body and if she wants to try it I guess thats her business!
Wouldn't that be like round the clock pumping? How long does it take an average woman to pump out a gallon?
Sure her hormones must be in over drive...but... when would she have time to change diapers?

I would like to think I would, because I'm a big supporter of nursing, but then again, that is a pretty overwhelming committment with that many babies, on top of everything else you have to do to care for that many.
I think I would probably nurse, but also supplement. lol - with that many, I don't think my milk drying up would be an issue... (like, every 3rd or 4th feeding, that child nurses, the others being bottles, and have a little chart to track it, or something...)
I would love to say that I would and I have nursed both of my girls and plan to nurse my son in a month when he arrives, but to try to keep up with the demand of 8, I think that there would be no time left to spend with the babies and definitely not with myself. If I had twins, I would definitely and would try with triplets, but beyond that, I think that the stress of finding time to nurse/pump spend time with babies, spouse or myself, would make it very difficult to do. Stress itself is not a good thing for milk supply to begin with! I hope that she can do it, but I hope that she isn't too hard on herself if it doesn't work... She is going to have enough on her plate with 8 little ones that she doesn't need to feel like she has to be supermom too!
I didn't have enough milk to fill up my one baby! I hope she has better production then I did.
that is wonderful!!! she is going to be best friends with her pump! i hope she has a ton of help and support!!
Good for her and I can't believe that anyone is even questioning her. Even if each one only gets one feeding of breastmilk a day, they are still better off. My mom nursed twins to nine months (when they self weaned) and I would do the same thing if I gave birth to more than one baby.
Yes, I would so breastfeed, but can you actually produce enough for eight babies??? LOL!!! I would try to pump and feed as much as possible. Gives a new meaning to becominga dairy farm! I believe the benifeits to breastfeeding are wonderful and would love to extend those benifeits to my children.
