Yesterday, we were at a birthday party for my step mom and the hostess had a big-screen television on in the living room (all the guys were sitting around watching football). My baby was fascinated by it—she kept staring and pointing at it. There was another baby there who didn't really pay any attention to it. I realized it was because my baby had never seen a TV before but the other baby was used to it being on at her house. My husband and I only turn it on after our daughter is in bed for the night.
Does your baby watch TV? Does he or she have any favorite shows yet?

my baby used to like TV when she was a newborn. When she would fuss, I would put her in front of it, and she just liked all the moving colors. Now she'll glance at it if I turn it on, then go back to what she was doing. I dont typically keep the TV on all day. I usually just watch it when Im nurse-napping with her on the couch, and after she goes to bed for the night. She is 14 months
My daughter just turned 10 months and we try to limit her tv exposure. My mother bought her a dvd set called "Your baby can read" and she watches those videos everday and it helps her learn to read at such a young age.
We don't watch alot of tv anyway during the week. Usually just sesame street in the morning and whatever my husband watches while I make dinner. Honestly Liam doesn't really have an attention span for it most of the time, but he will stop what he's doing to watch the commercials before sesame street. It's his favorite part, I guess because its the same everyday.
The only thing on TV that my daughter is interested in is Wonder Pets. And even when I turn it on for her she only watches it when she hears them singing. She's more of a book girl.
My son is 21 months old and loves tv almost as much as playing outside. I will turn the tv off from time to time and he will turn it back on. I guess it's on so much he thinks something is wrong if it's off. I'm not overly concerned though because he's very active and will often tune it out but does like certain shows like handy manny, my friends tiger and pooh, mickey mouse club house and imagination movers. He also loves the Baby First TV channel and so do we. He has learned a lot of sign language and it's really helped him develop language and make his needs known when he doesn't have a word for something. 90% of the time the tv stays on this Baby First channel.
Bobby watches a good amount of TV right now, mostly because he can't really do anything else! He'll play with his gym while watching anything, though Baby Einstein is what usually holds his attention. We'll have less TV time when he's actually able to play with other things, but for now, we're enjoying looking at lots of things!
we are a "no tv under age two" household and once our kids are old enough they are limited to 1 hour a day of an age-appropriate program. We don't have cable of anything like that so the only things we watch are on DVD (bob the builder, wiggles, etc) Once in a while we will have a movie night and on those days we relax the one-hour limit.
My husband and I ocassionally watch a movie after the kids are in bed, but not very often. We haven't had television for 5 years and after a while you just stop thinking about it and move on to other hobbies like playing games together, or reading.
Sadly yes, she does. I am trying to limit it, but my husband is a big TV guy so the older gets to pick what she watches and gets to watch it all the time and the baby is now interested in it.
its funny, it will keep my 4mnth olds attention for a while. i think she just likes the colors and stuff, but it does settle her sometimes when she is cranky. i couldnt get my other two kids to watch tv when they were babies. i think tv can be useful w/lil ones when the program is good for them!
I always said I wouldnt let my kid watch tv but somehow we have ended up watching tv quite a bit... but he doesnt sit in front of it or anything it is more lke background noise cause it is normally something for me he is never really interested in the tv maybe because it's on all the time... I dunno but we watch alot more tv than we used to now that I am a SAHM and pregnant
