One month after giving birth to her second daughter, Drew Barrymore is showing off her adorable baby, Frankie Barrymore Kopelman, to the world on the cover of the latest People. Completely adorable newborn yawning? Check. Full head of wispy infant hair? Check. Beautiful, glowing mama? Check, check, check!
However, despite our love of adorable celebrity baby photos, it's perhaps what Drew had to say about recovering from her second pregnancy that was the most interesting part of the article.
When asked about her postpartum experience, Drew said that she found it to be markedly easier than recovering from the birth of her 20-month-old daughter, Olive. "I knew that I have two kids to take care of now and just kicked my own butt to get back into the swing of things immediately," she said. In other words, Drew, like most moms of more than one kid, didn't have much of a choice in making her birth-recovery from Frankie long and, for lack of a better word, leisurely. She had a toddler to get after -- a toddler whose sleep schedule sounds like it's the opposite of her newborn sister's. "They're awake and asleep at different times, or awake at the same time, and it's a juggling act a little bit," Drew said.
So, sadly, it doesn't sound like Drew has much of an opportunity to "sleep when the baby sleeps," or take long, hot showers when either girl is napping. But hey, although exhausting, it sounds like it might not be a bad way to jump back into things. Baptism by fire. Or, you know, responsibilities by children.
Congrats, Drew! What a(nother) sweet little babe.
Did you have an easier time getting back into the swing of things after your second pregnancy?
