Champagne pops all around! R&B singer Ciara welcomed her first baby on May 19 with her fiance -- rapper Future. The celeb confirmed the news herself earlier on in the week, taking to Twitter and Facebook to announce the baby's name and to post a sneak pic of her little bundle, who, at 9 pounds, 10 ounces, isn't so little!
Okay, so as far as baby pictures go, this doesn't reveal much, but couldn't you just squeeze that adorable chubby arm? Way to keep us guessing, Ciara.
As for baby's name? Mom and Dad gave their son a moniker that's sure to please Dad's side of the family: Future. Yep, like his papa, Ciara's baby's name is Future Zahir Wilburn. Except ... Future isn't Papa's real name. It's his stage name. Future Senior's real name is Nayvadius D. Wilburn.

There's something kind of cool and unique about giving your baby your nickname instead of going the classic son-gets-father's-name route. It's sort of like starting your own legacy, and it gives the parent a little more control -- and a little more room for playfulness -- when it comes to their baby's name. Typically, sons who take their father's first names come from a long line of people of the same name. Using a nickname instead spices it up a bit but still pays homage to past relatives.
Also, let's be honest: What little boy wouldn't love the name Future?
Congrats to Ciara and Future! Can't wait to see the rest of this sweet little babe!
What do you think of giving baby dad's nickname instead of his full name?
