Baby's Unparalleled Love for Big Sister Caught in Magical Video

Awww! 12

baby and big sisterIt seems like everyone and their mother have enough digital know-how to take a bunch of images from a baby's first year and make a video these days. Most of them are pretty cute because, duh, baby's first year. But sometimes there's a little something special that sets a baby's first year apart. For mom Ilana Wiles, that's her baby's big sister.

Wiles, who blogs at the wildly popular Mommy Shorts, has a beauty in baby Harlow. But her older daughter, Mazzy, steals the show in Harlow's first year video by basically being the big sister every mom dreams of giving to her little girl.

Sibling rivalry, schmibling rivalry! Do me a favor ... grab some tissues before you settle in to watch, because this kind of sisterly love will get even the grinches going:

Go on and try to tell me your heart didn't grow a few sizes while watching that.

It's always tough bringing a new baby into the house because you don't know how older kids are going to react. Will they be hurt by the attention you are giving to the baby? Will they hurt the baby (not on purpose, but just because they don't know any better)? But when your older child falls in love with your baby, and your baby looks up to their big sibling, it's pure magic.

The thing that's really amazing about Ilana Wiles' video is that it's so apparent that the love works both ways. Big girl Mazzy is enamored with her little sister, but Harlow adores her big sister too.

This may be one mom's beautiful tribute to her baby girl's first year, but it's one every mom who is wondering if her kids will bond needs to watch. The love between siblings is something special.

How did your older child (or children) react to the baby? How does the baby react to their older siblings?

There is 8 years difference between my 2 sons and I was dreading taking my newborn home for the first time as it was just myself and my eldest for so long.

How wrong was I the second they met there was an instant bond which is still as strong now.

If my eldest goes out then my youngest cries cos he's missing him so much.

Hope it carries on forever. Xx

My daughter and stepson are 9 years apart, and I had this sinking feeling before I gave birth that my stepson would be jealous because he's been the only child for so long. When he came to meet his sister for the first time on Christmas eve (that's when she was born), you could see how happy he was and how much he loved her all over his face. When he went back to school after winter break, he told his teachers that we gave him a new sister for Christmas :) Now he's 12 and she is almost 3, and they still love each other very much <3

This is how my girls are. They are 23 months apart. Right now 2 and 6 months. My two year old loves her baby sister so much. She wants to hold her all the time, loves kissing her and lays down with her during tummy time. I feel so blessed.

The video was nice, but why would I need tissues?

stand... standstill

I thought this video was beautiful and the bond the sisters will have will be so strong. I did need a tissue because my daughter is 12 and is an only child due to medical reasons I can no longer have children so I feel so sad she will not have that bond with a sibling .but I count my blessings that I was blessed with her.

I agree with TheSilence. Yeah it's sweet but there is NOTHING special about it. This is how most siblings act.

It was too sweet for me b/c my daughter just turned one & it reminded me so much of my oldest daughter (3yrs old) 1st year with her. All the same stuff. But the craziest part for me is my girls' are named Maizy & Harper!!! Pretty close to Mazzy & Harlow right!? ❤️

That was really sweet! Cute little girls and cute names :)
