Kate Middleton's 'Mummy Tummy' Inspires Women Everywhere

Love It! 37

Kate MiddletonWhen it comes to the "post-baby bod" we are so accustomed to seeing celebrities pop up after birth with abstastic tummies that it was almost a shock to see Kate Middleton's "mummy tummy" when she appeared on the steps of the hospital with Prince William and Baby Cambridge. (I can't wait for his name!!!) Sure, the Duchess could have worn a much bigger, more flowing and body concealing robe, but she chose NOT to! How awesome is this? Kate not only paid a nice (subconscious?) tribute to Diana with her choice of polka dots, but she instantly made new moms all over the world feel more at ease with their bellies.

There's a million little tricks Kate could have pulled off to conceal her round tummy, which almost made her look like she was still pregnant. She could have hidden it behind a podium, behind a huge coat, behind William, behind a big pot of flowers -- whatever!! But she proudly stepped out with her mum tum in plain view. Hurrah, Kate!!!

Of course, not every woman has a mum tum after pregnancy. Some women do naturally snap right back into shape. I know one woman whose stomach was flatter after her birth than before, and not because she had a tum tuck. That was just her DNA.

So many celebs don't even show themselves for a few weeks after their pregnancies, when they've either slimmed down naturally or had a tummy tuck after birth. Not Kate!!! Keepin' it real, girlfriend.

Oh my gawd, is this woman an inspiration or what? Millions of women take their cues from her in terms of beauty, style, and general demeanor and she has not disappointed yet. Of course, she is human and one day she might, but not today!!!

Now if only Kate would breastfeed on the steps of Buckingham Palace. Haha. Kidding, Your Highness. Bottle feed if you like. Do that on the steps too.

Kate, a big smooch from mommies everywhere. We love you and your mummy tummy!

What do you think of Kate's mommach?

Well, I have a child. I honestly was surprised by her belly. (I don't mean that in a body judgement way.) I guess I don't see a lot of women right after they have their baby. Not standing in a dress, at least. I did not experience a lingering belly after my son, so I had no idea. Not that it matters, I don't think she's ever looked so lovely.

After seeing covers of magazines talking about how she's going to get back in to shape, aand how she's going to lose all the baby weight (ONE day after she had the baby!!!), it's nice to see that she's not hiding it. Having said that, she seems to be very down to earth, and I didn't expect that she would hide her post-pregnancy body. Expectations for women to snap their fingers and be smaller than they were before they got pregnant are unrealistic and harm body image. I think she's a normal, proud, beautiful mama.

i agree with the author. I too saw was her tummy. how it looked still prego bc she did just give birh uhh 2 days ago. but she didnt look fretted or uncomfortable about it. just bursting with new mom joy. all women should be so proud. being pregnant is hard and labor is just that - labor. they look so happy! do other women really look up to her tho? I dont really look up to ne1 nemore. all women r different.

Dear "The Stir" or Cafe Mom,

Can you create a like button?  I agree with previous posters.  When I saw her little belly poking out, I was like "Go 'head Kate with ya bad self!"  That's what being a Princess is all about---Don't Care Attitude.  good

I wish I had that belly now and I'm not pregnant. I still look 9 months pregnant and my little guy is about a year old.

The baby was a day old. Everyone still has the pouch 24 hours later, c'mon.

I think it is precious how her tummy looked like Princess Di's after giving birth to William 31 years ago..♥

I knew when I read this on the DM, it wold be right up The Stirs ally! They were such a happy little family! She literally was embracing her belly once she handed the tyke to William. Now I'm waiting for the name, which should be forth coming in the next 5mins. or so...And it is George Aleksander Louis

Um, after birth, the top of the uterus is just at or below the belly button and takes 6 weeksish to return to its original, non-pregnant size. Every woman has a belly immediately after birth, it is unavoidable. So it isn't surprising that Kate still had a bump being only 1 day post partum.

What the hell did you all expect??

I thought she looked amazing. I too had that pouch for about three days . I kept touching it because it was so strange to realize that my baby wasn't in there anymore. Kind of a literal empty feeling.
