Recently, we speculated that Cougar Town actress Busy Philipps would give her brand new baby girl an adorable name. Turns out, we were right. Busy Philipps revealed the name of her daughter and it couldn't be sweeter. And, like we also surmised, the name goes perfectly with big sis, Birdie's.
Here's a hint: Busy gave both her daughters animal-themed names. (Okay, animal and insect names.) Birdie and ...
Cricket! Cricket Pearl Silverstein. What do you think? Personally, I love it. Though I think some birds do eat crickets, so hopefully big sis won't get any ideas.
Naturally, Busy and husband Marc's choice has been met with some criticism, because apparently some people can't wrap their heads around a baby name that isn't as common as "Kate" or "Michael". Philipps said: "It's weird people think my kids will be in therapy because of their names. Guys, my kids will be therapy for LOTS of reasons, I'm sure." Amen, Philipps. But joking aside, I always think it's strange when people chastise parents for giving their children "weird" names, claiming that the child will be made fun of growing up. A) Is it really anyone's place to criticize a parent's choice for a baby name?; and B) Aren't most kids made fun of growing up, regardless of what their name is? I know I was, and my name's pretty common. And so were my friends Jennifer, Elizabeth, and Kelly.
I think the names Birdie and Cricket are positively adorable. Of course it would be sad if Busy's children were made fun of in school, but I'm sure she'd rather have a weirdly named child who was made fun of as opposed to a commonly named one who was making fun of others.
