Channing Tatum's 3 Secrets to Being a Great Dad

channing tatumIt's not like we really need another reason to drool over him, but after hearing Channing Tatum open up about his baby Everly -- it's impossible not to be head-over-heels for this guy.

It's only been three weeks since he and his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum welcomed their precious daughter into the world. Already he's proving to be an amazing father and seems to have figured out all the secrets to making the transition to parenthood as smooth as possible.

No, I'm not kidding. He totally knows what he's doing. And if other new dads know what's good for them, they'll pay attention and take his actions to heart -- because they can learn three simple lessons from Channing on how to be the best dad ever.

  1. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty and pitch in -- Even with his celebrity status, Channing isn't above changing diapers -- a task some new dads are pretty afraid to tackle right off the bat for several reasons. And I'm sure he's totally cool with burping, bathing, swaddling, and all that good stuff too. (Get in there, dads! You'll do just fine.)
  2. Wait on your wife hand and foot -- You know the whole, "If mama ain't happy, nobody's happy" thing? Mr. Tatum obviously knows it's true. He admits that Jenna has been pretty tired since Everly's arrival and even says the first few months with a newborn are "ridiculous." He's doing all he can to be there for her -- like getting her food so she can tend to the baby. Aww, whatta guy!
  3. Don't take life too seriously  -- Enjoy every moment, even the poopy ones. Channing had some funny words for expectant dad A.J. Calloway from Extra, "You're never going to be so excited when something poos." Wow. Ain't that the truth. Moms are typically the ones who obsess and ooh and ahh over poop -- but it's so, so adorable when dads find the joy in it as well. Not every moment with a newborn has to be serious and stressful -- celebrate the messy moments too!

Man. That Jenna is one lucky gal. And she must know it too, which is probably why Channing joked that the two of them might wind up having Irish twins (babies who are born within a year of each other). Who wouldn't want to try for baby number two immediately with a dad this amazing?

Do you think Channing sounds like a great dad?
