Avengers actor Jeremy Renner recently welcomed a baby girl with his girlfriend Sonni Pacheo, and like all celebrities, they gave her an adorably original name: Ava Berlin. According to a rep, the couple is "beyond thrilled" with their new addition, "mother and daughter are doing great", etc. etc. etc., blah blah blah -- let's discuss this cute name and how, clearly, "map names" are in.
Perhaps Victoria and David Beckham started the trend with their son, Brooklyn, but it seems like giving "map" first or middle names are all the rage these days. Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick gave daughter Penelope the middle name Scotland; Reese Witherspoon named her baby boy Tennessee James Toth; Nick Lachey and Kristin Cavallari both named their sons Camden (much to Kristin's dismay); and now Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are noodling over naming their child North. Or Easton. North West or Easton West.

Personally, I love this trend -- not only are "map" names adorable and original, it opens up a whole new world of ideas for great baby names. Street names; little towns you once visited; foreign cities; coordinates, apparently. You could find a million ideas from looking at the map of one state alone. Imagine the possibilities from a country map or, gadzooks, a world map. This is fantastic! Thanks, Rand McNally!
Unbookmark the baby name websites, everyone, atlases are where it's at. Love it. Oh, and congrats, Jeremy!
