claire danesI'm sorry, did Claire Danes just have a baby? The Homeland actress looked incredible on the red carpet at the 2013 Golden Globes last night. I mean, seriously, this is unsettling, guys. The woman gave birth to baby Cyrus last month. I'm confused. I don't even know how this is possible. This is so not how I looked a month after having a child. And I'm not even talking body-wise here, I'm talking everything: Her dewy-glow; her lack of under-eyes bags; her ability to give a funny, smart, endearing speech in front of millions. But Claire and I do have one postpartum thing in common: Ms. Danes was afraid she was going to start leaking breastmilk all over her fancy Versace gown.

When talking to Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, Claire said: "Hoping I don't leak anytime soon!" referring to the fact that she's nursing her 1-month-old son. Dude, I hear you. When I was breastfeeding my daughter, I had to wear those Lansinoh nursing pads when I left the house, because yeah, there was often leakage. And that was just me going to the bodega down the street. This is an awards show with millions of people watching. So respect, Claire, respect.

When Claire was talking to Seacrest, she also mentioned what a shock it was to be at the Golden Globes, because, for the past month, she's been "so sequestered ... in baby world" -- and I couldn't help but smile. The first time going out of the house as a new mom is always jarring -- particularly the first time you're out without your baby. Particularly the first time you're out without your baby whom you're still nursing. In addition to there being the worry that you're going to leak all over, there's the worry that your baby is crying/hungry/fussy/etc. I'm sure Claire fed Cyrus up-to-the-minute before leaving him -- and I'm sure he had bottles for when he got hungry -- but still. It's scary. (Even if you are leaving your kid with his grandparents.)

So, congrats, Claire. Congrats not only on your well-deserved Golden Globe win. But on your first post-baby event. You did great.

What was your first post-baby jaunt like?
