Hug N' Tug Baby Toy Recalled: What You Need to Know

This Just In 3

Hug N' Tug ToyIt's time to check your toy chests, parents -- because the Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling over 45,000 Hug N' Tug baby toys made by Sassy and Carter's due to a choking hazard to infants.

The problem with the toy has to do with the plastic sphere in the center, which contains small beads that could possibly fall out and cause babies to choke if they try to ingest them.

So far, 12 reports have come in from people who had the beads fall out of their Sassy Hug N' Tug toy, though thankfully, no babies have been injured. There haven't yet been reports of beads falling out of the Carter's toy, but the CPSC is still recalling them as a precaution.

Ok, here's what you need to know as far as determining whether or not you have one of the toys affected by the recall. And if you don't immediately spot this toy among your baby's things, make sure to check your car seats and strollers, because it may be clipped onto one of them.

A lot of baby toys tend to look very similar, but the ones in question have either a monkey or a puppy as the face of the toy. Sassy models were sold between July 2012 and October 2012, and Carter's models were sold between August 2011 and October 2012.

The following styles are included in the recall: Sassy Hug N' Tug Puppy, style #80213; and Sassy Hug N' Tug Monkey, style #80214. Also included: Carter's-branded Hug N' Tug Monkey, #61083 style, sold on a blue packaging card, and style #61540, sold on a gray card.

All you have to do if you have one of these toys (besides obviously taking them away from your baby) is to contact Sassy, and you will be given another toy as a replacement at no cost. You can either call 800-323-6336 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or go to the Sassy website for more information.

Do you have one of these toys?

Yes these cases have come to the front due to not following up of the major standards while preparing the baby products. Major incidents including the baby deaths have been seen as per the reports and therefore may be the particular reasons for the manufacturing of the baby products. So according to standards and special norms these have been really a good effort to understand the baby products in details.
