See what CafeMoms are saying about saving time this holiday season..
Country crooner Jake Owen and his model wife, Lacey Buchanan, got quite a treat for Thanksgiving. And it wasn't a perfectly cooked turkey. It was their new baby daughter, born on Thursday (thank goodness it wasn't Black Friday!). Jake tweeted a pic of himself and his baby girl, who has some seriously flowing black locks -- just like daddy! She weighed in at 6 pounds, 3 oz. Jake named her after his godmother. And ... the first and middle name confirm that old-timey names -- especially these two in particular -- are all the rage right now. Any guesses?
Jake and his wife named their baby girl Olive Pearl. But she'll be called Pearl. Really pretty, right?
We've heard these names before. Drew Barrymore recently named her baby Olive. And Jack Osbourne called his baby girl Pearl. So I'm thinking the combination is the culmination and apex of the names Olive and Pearl, two old-fashioned names if there ever were. Could this be the end of bizarro Hollywood baby names like Apple and Pilot Inspektor? Well, if things get too tame, we can always look to Uma Thurman's baby to spice things up. Her name is Rosalind Arusha Arkadina .... (it goes on ... and on ...)
The funny thing is that just last night I was talking baby names with a friend and mentioned that my grandmother hated her name her entire life and now it's so popular. She was named Olive. The kids at school called her "Olive Oyl" -- the girlfriend of cartoon Popeye. Yep, kids were cruel back then too. I also had a great-aunt named Pearl. Not sure how she felt about her name. But I think both of them would be "tickled pink" as they would say that their names are now considered trendy!
Do you like old-fashioned names? What do you think of Olive Pearl?
