Yes, it's the inevitable consequence of Hugh Grant's career. Behold this photograph of Hugh Grant posing next to a breastfeeding mom. It's nice that he's smiling, but he also looks a little... what's the word? Oh yes, mortified. Huge surprise! The man who made awkward, fumbling, repressed Englishness famous looks deeply uncomfortable when photographed next to a nursing mum.
Aww, poor Hugh. He's a new dad himself. He wasn't really embarrassed, was he? Oh yes he was, according to the mom in the photo. Why do you think she's smiling like that? Wait till you hear what she says about the encounter.
Apparently Hugh was visiting the pub of a friend (frenemy?) Paul McMullan, when he was introduced to Paul's girlfriend Natalie and their new baby.
Hugh came straight over to me on the sofa and said, "Oh hello, how are you?" I was blushing furiously and when he held out his hand he suddenly realised I was breast feeding but because it was Hugh I felt I had to take it, but as I moved my arm the baby slipped down and he said, "Oh I am so sorry," and moved back and I only stroked his hand instead of shaking it.
He said: “I will just turn round for a minute,” and as he turned his back I popped the baby back on. He wasn’t comfortable with breast feeding.'
INDEED NOT. Classic! That's why I suspect Natalie may have even popped the baby back on just for the photo op -- just to torture Hugh a little more for shits and giggles. Apparently, shortly after meeting Natalie Hugh left the pub for a bit and then returned. When he saw she was nursing (on the other side, duh!) he reportedly said, "Oh God, is that baby still breastfeeding?"
Oh God, are you still HERE? Are you still freaked out over my breastfeeding?!?
Those of us who boldly breastfed our babies wherever and whenever, this kind of thing gets a little exasperating. The kid is eating, get over it! It's enough to almost make you want to keep breastfeeding LONGER in order to make a point. And in general, men who are easily embarrassed? I have no patience for that. So I can't blame Natalie if she had a little fun with Hugh.
How do you feel when other people are embarrassed by your public breastfeeding?

Some guys are totally supportive of nursing but are unsure of what to do or where to look when they see a woman nursing who is not their wife.
Aw, Hugh. I agree with purpleflower. I know many-a-man who is totally supportive of breastfeeding whenever and wherever, but doesn't know what to do about it when it's not his significant other. They also have a bit of a double-edged sword to deal with: freaked out and he should "get over it," but look and he's a creep.
It seems he was more mortified for causing the mom to move and the baby letting go, than embarrased or disgusted. Bet he didn't expect to see the ladies full breast uh?? If he has a baby he is familiar with breastfeeding and although is a natural thing, not everyone is comfortable doing it in front of others, or around moms who do. Just take it easy. If people make rude remarks, then you should say something.
I gotta agree with purple and estella its a double edged sword.
And haters will come out sand say women shouldn't have their breasts all exposed in public. And while the photo shows a little more if he had no idea until she was originally unable to shake his hand then she was being super discreet about it and not having everything hanging out.
So what if he turned around. Isn't that what everyone tells people who are unconfortable with public breast feeding to do. I don't know how many times ive seen people type "if you don't like it then turn around/ dont look/ ignore it ect" And that is exactly what he did.
And, The Stir, if "retarded" is not allowed, neither is "tranny." Seriously. Tighten up.
Hmm...the guy actually took a photo with the breastfeeding mom. That shows he wasn't that put out about it or that at the least that he tried to. and he felt awkward, so what? it's normal, not every one have to be 100% ok with seeing a woman's breast out in public. He didn't insult her or smthg. And his remark about the baby still breastfeeding actually sounds like a joke. The british type, you know.
