Britax Convertible Car Seat Recall: Everything You Need to Know
If you have a Britax Convertible Car Seat, as I know many (including myself) do, you might want to listen up. Some models are about to be recalled. I know -- not something a mom likes hearing, but no need to worry, we've got everything you need to know.
Models that have been recalled: Boulevard 70 G3, Advocate 70 G3, and Pavilion 70 G3. (Model numbers: E9LJ91A, E9LJ91M, E9LJ91S, E9LJ92E, E9LJ93P, E9LJ93S, E9LK91A, E9LK31A, E9LK31Q, E9LK32D, E9LK32Z, E9LK33Q, E9LL11A, E9LL11Q, E9LL12D, E9LL12Z, E9LG81A, E9LG83N, E9LG83P, E9LG83X, E9LG83Y, E9LL21A, E9LL23P, E9LL23Y.)
The reason they've been recalled: The seats, which were manufactured between June 2012 and August 2012, have a softer material in the chest pad that has the potential to be bitten or chewed into little pieces by a child who's using the seat (we all know how much babies and kids like biting things!). If the child bites off a piece of the material, it may pose a choking hazard that results in injury or death.
What will Britax do: The company will provide car seat owners with replacement HUGS pads that are made from a stronger material, along with instructions on how to replace the pads -- at no cost. Current owners can remove the HUGS pads and continue using the seat until the replacement pads are received.
Who to call: Contact Britax Customer Service Department at 1-888-427-4829 if you have any questions, or to request replacement chest pads for the seat.
