Vicki Gunvalson is a grandmother! The Real Housewives of Orange County stalwart reportedly "couldn't stop crying" after daughter Briana Wolfsmith, 24, delivered her son this morning during an emergency C-section. Brianna and her husband Ryan Colberson eloped last fall in Vegas, and now their son Troy William Colberson has joined their family. He was born 3 weeks early and weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
I'm sure Troy is such a welcome blessing to Briana and her family -- after all of Bri's health scares, there's probably nothing like a little bundle of joy to put an enormous smile on everyone's face.
Us Weekly reports that Briana and Ryan are overjoyed, and it's easy to understand why. These two lovebirds have already lived a thousand lives -- she with her cancer scares and he as a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan -- and despite meeting and marrying quickly, they seem like a natural pair who will make excellent parents.
Vicki, on the other hand, I don't know how she's going to handle being a grandmother. While she isn't the first Real Housewife to be granted Nanna-status (RHOA star NeNe Leakes was surprised by the delivery of her granddaughter this August), you know she's probably freaking out. Why? Because that's what Vicki does best. She freaks out, she worries, she inserts herself where she isn't wanted, and she becomes delusional about reality (Brooks Ayers, much?).
But all that doesn't matter now -- Troy's here and I'm sure that whatever bad blood Briana and Vicki had will simmer down for its boil. Undoubtedly, Briana now understands the pain (warranted or not) she caused her mother since she, herself, is now a new mom, and suddenly has been granted a deeper understanding about where Vicki's been coming from, and knows that there's nothing she or her mom would ever do to hurt or alienate their children. Troy will be their bond, at least for a little while.
It's still up in the air whether or not Vicki's coming back next season on the RHOC, but if she does, in fact, decide to return, it will be interesting to see how grandmotherhood has changed her. Something tells me she'll be neurotic as ever, just, I don't know, a bit happier.
