'SNL' Star Bill Hader Gets In on World's Cutest Baby-Naming Trend

by Nicole Fabian-Weber on August 1, 2012 at 12:44 PM

alphabetSaturday Night Live star Bill Hader (AKA Stefon, AKA Herb Welch) and his wife Maggie Carey welcomed their second daughter into the world this past weekend. The name they chose for their newest bundle o' joy is darling. So darling, in fact, that another celebrity named their daughter the very same thing not that long ago.

But the cutest thing of all is how the newest Hader's name goes with her sister's. It seems to be kind of a trend. And a completely adorable one at that.

Bill and Maggie chose the name Harper for their newest addition (as in Harper Beckham). The name not only goes perfectly with their last name -- Harper Hader (yay, alliteration!) -- it goes perfectly with their eldest daughter's name, Hannah. Hannah and Harper Hader. Adorable!

I'm a huge fan of naming your kids -- be they two daughters, two sons, a daughter and a son -- names that start with the same letter. And if that letter also happens to be the one that starts your last name, even better. Perhaps it's partly thanks to the Kardashians, but I think it's super cute.

My husband and I have already talked about, if we have another baby, trying to give him or her a name that starts with the same letter as our daughter's name. And, bonus, it makes the whole naming process that much easier!

Do your kids' names start with the same letter?

No, but her names rhyme. Both end with "sa"

It's fine among 2-3 children, after that it gets obnoxious - the fact that you have 8 "K" kids and you dried up the only good names with the first few..then you end up with kids named "Kiefer" and "Klover" and god knows what else.. I mean, how many names do the Duggars have left? Jellybean? Junkface? Harper is a pretty name, but that name starts AND ends with the same sounds as her last name. Doesn't work.

no. to those who do it - power to you, it can be cute. but personally, it's not for me. i would feel limited if i thought "all my kids names should start with letter _!" if it happens to fit, as in this situation, cute. but pushing for it (i'm looking at you, duggar family) can get kind of kooky after a few kids.

I didn't do it because I thought I'd get them all mixed up, like when you shout for "Jennifer-Jadon-Jerry-Judy-Jeffrey!!" until you reach the one you want.  Doesn't matter though, I still go through all the names before I get it right!

My friends baby is named Harper too!

My babys name is Michelle and I always thought if I had another girl I would go with Maci. Keep the M theme.

My kids' first and middle names have 5 letters each. Also, the middle names both begin with A and end in double letters- Adell & Arinn.

Nope. That's just another flash-in-the-pan trend that'll have parents kicking themselves when the next one rolls in.

No that is one thing I want to avoid cause then you are looking for that name that starts with an "h" for example instead of looking for a name that will be perfect. Doesn't make any sense. In this case these two names are great.
