Mom Who Gave Birth in Coma Finally Wakes Up & Meets Her Baby
Need a happy story to get you going after the awkward mid-week holiday? This ought to do it for you. Louisiana mom Amber Scott slipped into a coma before doctors delivered her baby girl by C-section back in May, but now she's awake! And she finally got to see little Adeline!
Sniff. Sniff. Oh, I know, I know, I said it was a happy story. But I've got some happy tears streaming down my face because the story actually gets even better! Just listen to this one folks!
Today is reportedly Amber Scott's 30th birthday.
Can you imagine a better birthday present than waking up from a coma and finally meeting your baby girl all in the same week? Me neither! Scott's husband Tommy said she's still working at a smile, so all she can give up is a smirk ... and you better believe this mama was smirking like crazy when she saw little Adeline.

I'm always curious what it's like in a coma -- I wonder if she was thinking about her daughter that whole time. But it doesn't matter how much time has passed or how much you've been through: mom's first glimpse of baby is always the same, isn't it? It's magical.
The whole ordeal that she's been through -- which included a blood clot on the brain and surgery to remove it, having to give birth in a coma, and being in that coma for six weeks -- puts the early days of motherhood into perspective for me big time. The other day I confessed that those days were kind of boring -- much as I loved them. I won't lie; I KNOW that comparatively my early days with my baby girl were a breeze ... I was so lucky to be there for all of it. I bet Amber Scott would give everything to have to change a poopy diaper or be projectile vomited on!
Here Amber Scott missed those days, and therapists have to train her to re-learn stuff just like her infant daughter. It's one of those miraculous examples of modern medicine to me: that mother and daughter can both make it through something like that and thrive.
Good luck to her and her beautiful family. And happy birthday Amber!
How long did it take after birth before you got to see your baby for the first time?

This is the cousin of a friend of mine and we have ben following this from day one. There were some very very scary days that were touch and go. I think we ALL cried the day she met her baby! There have been fundraiser stuff! Here is a FB page that her prayer team made! https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Ambers-Prayer-Team/458235870871071 Prayers are still VERY MUCH welcomed!!

I had to wait about 5-6 hours before I could see my son after delivery. He was whisked off to the NICU so quickly I hardly got a glance. Then, by the time I was up and able to move, it was shift change in the NICU. After over 18 hours of labor, then a tough delivery, my son having to be whisked off to the NICU and put on a ventilator, I was so grateful when I finally got to see him that I forgot all that time had passed. I will pray for the Scott family and hope that their happy ending continues.

If you read closely though, the birthday and they they that brave woman met her baby were no on the same day. "Amber Scott, who turns 30 on Thursday, met baby Adeline on Sunday". As always, the Stir is not so good on getting facts right. Having siad that, i wish amber and Adeline all the best!

I had a c-section but was having a reaction to the meds, so they conked me out after my son arrived. I didn't get to see or hold him until they woke me back up, i'm not sure how long that was but i was in my recovery room & everyone else had already got to hold him :(
