Okay parents, we are re-opening the vaccinations debate. Are you ready? This time it's "shot-limited schedules." Researchers from the Oregon Health Authority say that more and more parents in Oregon are using alternative vaccination schedules that reduce the number of shots their children receive at one time. In other words, they're getting some of those shots on a delayed schedule.
This practice could be putting those children -- and their peers -- at greater risks for diseases.
And it's not just Oregon kids. I know that here in Brooklyn shot-limited schedules are very popular. Parents are trying to take back control over their kids' vaccinations. But do we really know enough to do that?
I know babies and toddlers get a LOT of shots. I was shocked every time I took my son in for a check-up. And did I ever hear it from the other parents, too. There's so much social pressure in my area to get all bossy with your pediatrician and demand a delayed schedule -- or even skipping some vaccinations altogether.

Our pediatrician won't hear of it. She's married to a researcher who studies diseases and vaccinations all day, every day -- and she's very serious about staying on schedule.
So -- am I just totally naive here? -- I trusted our pediatrician and went along with her crazy, mega-vaccination schedule. And now my son is eight and he's fine. That's just us, of course. It doesn't prove anything about anything. But I wonder about these shot-limiting schedules. Sure, there's all kinds of information on the Internet about the dangers of too many vaccinations at once. But how do you know who to trust?
I have a lot of crunchy mom friends who question western medicine. And I listen to them politely. And then I shrug and go along with the advice of the woman with the medical degree on her wall.
Have you tried a shot-limiting schedule?

I have mixture of fully vaxes and delayed schedule kids, why? because every child is different. If vax do not do harm why is there a vax injury program? I do not think delaying vax hurts anyone. as long as you are clean and healthy. If you or your child is sick, stay home. also I do not vax for STDS in a child, I do not vax for diseases that do not kill healthy people, it is not worth the risk to me. Autism has not been ruled out, it has been said it most likely does not come from vax, but it could be a combo of genetics and vax.
I think it is irresponsible to approach medicine as one size fits all. I am also a medical professional and I have seen that whenever you try to make everyone fit the same mold the negatives of an intervention start to surpass the positive. Furthermore there is zero liability with regard to these shots...and a lot of money backing them. In my mind that is a recipe for disaster. That fact alone was enough for me to take a step back and question whether this intervention was the best choice for my son despite my formal training.
Beyond that point the concern I have is with not using a true placebo (saline) during safety trials, screening patients before trials and only accepting the healthiest of the healthy but administering the shots to everyone (premature, recent illness, etc), and passive surveillance after the vaccine is introduced to the public. They are not looking for adverse reactions nor are the medical professionals trained on the signs and symptoms. We are literally taught in school and during clinicals/residency that the last culprit when there is a problem is the vaccination. The system is not set up for the safety of the individual.
Maybe you should not just listen to a "medical degree on the wall" and research the ingredients, study after study done in all countries, the side effects listed by the manufacture, how some have been fast tracted through the trial phase, look on VEARS and see all the vaccine injuries, research how the body does not develope the ability to "build immunity" till around age two, see how in other countries heard immunity is shown to not be true, see the vaccines have never in US history been shown to reduce any desease,.....do I need to continue???? You should not write about something without doing reasearch and just speak second hand from a "degree on a wall". You dont need a medical degree to have a "common sense, proactive mom degree". If there was a war and you needed to keep your chld safe would you need the "medical degree on the wall" or would you let your common sense and motherly inyuition keep your child safe???? Oh and listening to Crunchy moms is not researching yourself! You will learn some things but you should know it for yourself!
