These days, the children of big stars are famous before they are even born. From the moment Beyonce revealed her baby bump at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone was obsessed with what it would look like and -- more importantly -- the name.
B and hubby Jay-Z didn't disappoint. Blue Ivy is unique, cool, and destined to inspire regular folk to name their children after the hue.
Well, Beyonce may have finally revealed the inspiration for that moniker. The diva posted an excerpt from the novel A Field Guide for Getting Lost on her Tumblr page and it is all about -- you guessed it -- the color blue.
The passage reads:
The world is blue at its edges and in its depths. This blue is the light that got lost. Light at the end blue end of the spectrum does not travel the whole distance from the sun to us. It disperses among the molecules of the air, it scatters in the water. Water is colorless, shallow water appears to be the color of whatever lies underneath it, but deep water is full of this scattered light, the purer the water the deeper the blue. The sky is blue for the same reason, but the blue at the horizon, the blue of the land that seems to be dissolving into the sky, is a deeper, dreamier, melancholy blue, the blue at the farthest reaches of the places where you see for miles, the blue of distance. This light does not touch us, does not travel the whole distance, the light that gets lost, gives us the beauty of the world, so much of which is in the color blue.
One of the world’s greatest mysteries is finally solved! So can all the rabid fans give it a rest? There have already been numerous articles dedicated to dissecting the "Ivy" portion. Apparently, it represents Roman numeral four ("IV") and that number stands for the day they got married (April 4), Jay's birthday (December 4), and the title of Beyonce's new album.
Geesh! It's like the The Da Vinci Code or something. Hopefully this ends the hype surrounding Blue Ivy's name? I am a big Beyonce fan too but the obsession with her baby is a bit over-the-top, don't ya think?
In all honesty, it's not just Blue, it's every Hollywood baby. Suri, Apple, Coco, Maddox, Shiloh, and the list goes on. Why are we so obsessed with celeb babies? Sure they have mega rich parents and oddball names, but can't we just leave it at that?
Do you think the world is obsessed with celebrity babies? Do you have a favorite?
