Imagine, if you will, a 5-month-old baby that can stand up on its own two feet. No, not just stand. The 5-month-old can balance, on its own feet, on his Dad's hand, held high above the ground. Would you clap or would you cry in terror? Not sure?
Then behold the amazing Leopold, 24 pounds of absolute adorable roly poly baby chunk, who was caught on video by his fun-loving parents doing his future circus act. It's so incredible that even his mom can be heard off-camera saying, "It's not even real." But it is! You have to check this little guy out:
See what I mean about clapping or crying? I'm awed by the feat, but so terrified of heights as a fully grown adult that I can't help whispering a chant of "Don't let him fall, don't let him fall, don't let him fall" throughout. I'm not saying Dad did anything wrong here -- he does "seem" to have Leopold under control safety-wise -- but I've got to admit it's something I wouldn't have done. I would have been too afraid to balance my baby on my one hand -- even if he could do it!

This is one of those great big lines in the sand between parents. We could hash out whether we would put our 5-month-old baby on our arm and let him balance, but why? Leopold's parents did, and he was having a blast. It worked for them! He's fine. Better than fine, probably, with parents who like to have fun with their son.
That's the really cool part of being a parent to your own kid, isn't it? We all get to do it differently. That doesn't make one wrong or one right. It just makes us different parents, and it will make for a new generation of different kids.
My kid might be an engineer or a teacher. Leo, on the other hand, already has a good start on a career in acrobatics.
Would you do this with your baby? What other acrobatic feats can your kiddo perform?

Wow, I can't believe someone actually called him an "ugly baby"! My son was big like this when he was around that same age...some babies are. I never worried about his weight. I knew once he was mobile he would lose the chunk and guess what, he did. My son now is just shy of 17 and he is 5'10" and 147 lbs. Certainly NOT overweight at all.
Because you're such a looker, insaneygolover...
My husband did this with both of our girls, and guess what...they walked early! Also threw them high in the air, and still do! You either have fast reflexes or you don't. I guess you don't. By the way, my daughters will grow up to be an airline pilot and a professional athlete.
As far as article kind of boring didn't feel like finish it all the way to the end. Video is cute though.
As far as those who say this baby is fat and gross you are obviously very ignorant - pick a book and read it'll do you good
I love it!!! That is one CUTE and chubby baby!! There's nothing wrong with his weight! He's a healthy baby! My kids were both well over ten pounds when they were born and very chubby babies. My son is now two and average for height and weight. My daughter is five months and almost 19lbs. Healthy!! As far as the balancing act, it's totally cute and fun! I don't see the danger in it with his dad literally holding onto his feet and being RIGHT there.
My step dad did this with all the grandbabies!!!
I thought he was adorable, chubby legs and all. He looked like he was enjoying every second of it. Personally I wouldn't do it out of fear of dropping my kids, but daddy does crazy stuff with them all the time. Thank you for posting.
Wow, 24 LBs?? my daughter is almost 2 and is only 21 lbs...:)) cute baby!!
insanyglover--shame- take a look in the mirror before you call an innocent baby ugly. Yuck
