I think it also helps mentally. In particular, having a sense of accomplishment from single handedly being able to nourish another human being.

So the rest of us formula feeding moms, for whatever reason we do it, are screwed?

Noone said formula feeders are screwed. It was just a list of the benefits of breastfeeding. I know the boob extremists can be assholes, but there's no reason to be defensive for reading facts about breastfeeding :P

I'm skinnier now than I was before I had my kids. Okay, I'm more active now than I ever have been staying at home with them but I really think BFing has something to do with it.

Suzy this post wasn't meant for you. I breastfed my twins for 16 months but ate more than when I was pregnant, so the weight loss took about 16 months as well. BFing makes you HUNGRY!!

I'm not saying I believe this claim or not.  All I will say is that I formula fed 7 children and have remained thin/skinny  throughout my adult life.  I'm 45 years old and weigh the same weight I did at 25.  Exercising daily and eating correctly EVERYDAY is the only way to have a "rockin' body."  Walking, abstaining  from fast food, mircowave meals and soda will keep you thin.  Also, you will actually have more energy to do the things you did when you were 20.  Throw in  A LOT  of fruit, veggies and some MEAT, yes, meat; and you will look and feel amazing.

I breastfed for 10 months and just remember staying fat, utterly unable to lose weight without my milk drying up, continuously loosing hair and joint pain until I weaned. I'm just so sick and tired of hearing how breast feeding makes you lose weight cuz it just doesn't.

I am actually really getting tired of formula feeding moms getting their panties in a bunch everytime there is something posted about the benefits of breastfeeding. That was your choice to make please don't use your guilt feelings as a reason to attack those who did what we and science felt was best for our kids. If these articles piss you off feel free not to read them. But please keep your defensive breastfeeding mom slamming bs at home.

I hate to be a downer, but I breast fed for 3 months and my breasts were never the same after that lol

I've yet to experience the miraculous weight loss everyone mentions.  And I don't eat badly.
