I really didn't anticipate that Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck would announce the name of their baby this soon after his arrival, which is why I came up with a fun list of Boston-themed names for them to choose from this morning. Of course, I didn't really think that they'd actually take my advice and select one of them, but apparently I have way more influence on the celeb types than I thought. I'm good like that.
The name that they decided on is absolutely perfect not only because it can be associated with Ben's hometown of Boston, but also because it's very old-fashioned and traditional, which totally fits in with their daughters' names, Violet and Seraphina.
So, what exactly did Jen and Ben name their baby?
Ben announced their little guy's name on his Facebook page this morning (how trendy), and it's so simple yet very adorable: Samuel Garner Affleck.

Doesn't his name complement his sisters' names perfectly? Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. It sounds like the three of them have always belonged together!
I'm sure that they'll wind up calling him "Sam" for short, which will be incredibly cute. And even though I'm fairly certain that they weren't thinking of Boston's own Sam Adams beer when they gave him that particular name, it still seems fitting that it has some sort of small tie to the city. They may live in Southern California with the rest of the beautiful people now, but Ben and Jen both had "regular" lives growing up, so giving their baby a traditional and very un-celeb name makes it seem like they will never forget where they came from.
Ok -- now that we have the name, when are we going to see the first photos of little Samuel Garner? And how amazing will it be if he's the spitting image of his hunky Daddy?
Did you choose a traditional name for your little one?
