Tori Spelling Gives New Baby Girl an Old Lady Chic Name

Tori Spelling baby Hattie Margaret

Exciting news from Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott today! The couple and their two children -- Liam, 4, and Stella, 3 -- welcomed a brand new addition to their family yesterday morning. A baby girl!

For their new daughter's name, the famous couple jumped on the old school naming trend again, as they did with their first daughter Stella. In other words, hooray, the baby isn't named Candy (after Tori's mom)! In fact, they chose a name that may have had its heyday back in the late 1800s but has made a fairly strong comeback. Probably because it's wonderfully granny chic.

Read on to find out the name Tori and Dean chose for their new sweetie.

Tori and Dean named their new baby girl Hattie Margaret McDermott. Awwww. Isn't that such a cute name? This name makes me think of the character Haddie on TV's Parenthood but also beckons back to a time long ago when Hattie was often a nickname for Harriet. In the McDermotts' case, they just went with plain old Hattie. Love it!

The McDermotts do love to go with family names. Liam's middle name is Aaron after Tori's late father Aaron Spelling, and Stella's middle name is Doreen after Dean's late mother. No word yet on whether Hattie or Margaret are family names, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

Congratulations to the Spelling-McDermotts! Enjoy your babymoon.
