I love everything I'm about to reveal about the gorgeous, sexy, strong actress, Evangeline Lilly. It turns out, she's also an amazing mother and parents similar to how I do. Evangeline's most notable role was that of Kate on Lost, and she most recently is in Real Steel.
She was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno talking about the planned homebirth of her baby boy and being on the set of The Hobbit -- she plays the willowy elf, Tauriel. She and her partner Norman Kali and their baby were all together in New Zealand on set, and she was able to continue breastfeeding even during work.
It looks like the cast of JRR Tolkien-based movies are turning out to be some of my favorite people, between Evangeline and my biggest crush ever, Legolas, played by amazingly involved dad Orlando Bloom.
Evangeline made sure she was very clear that her homebirth wasn't an accident, that she planned it from the get-go because she wanted a natural birth. After 30 hours of labor and "eight hours of pushing," she got her wish, though she jokingly laments the fact that her midwife waited until she'd been pushing for five hours before giving her some suggestions.
I had to laugh when she said if she weren't working, she'd have a whole brood of babies, but couldn't turn down being in The Hobbit. I don't think anyone in their right mind would turn that down, but then again, I'm a major, major geek with a foiled special edition poster of Legolas on the wall in my office. Ahem. Anyway. I was so happy to hear her talking about her baby boy being brought to her on set to nurse (just like Miranda Kerr). I laughed my butt off when she said he refused to nurse, acting as if he didn't recognize her in costume ... which, honestly, is likely, since babies not only rely on visual, but on the scent of their mother and her breastmilk more than anything, something likely masked by her costuming and makeup. She had to learn to speak Elvish as well, and I can't help but be a little jealous. I wonder if she'll teach her son? I would!
Check her out on The Tonight Show.
How gorgeous does she look? Kind of blows the idea that breastfeeding ruins boobs out of the water, doesn't she? Because come on, she's hot. While I liked Evangeline before, now I am much more in love with her. I think I'd explode with happiness if I saw a playdate with her munchkin and Orlando and Miranda's son, Flynn. I feel like squealing like a fangirl. It's kind of pathetic. Normally I don't care as much about celebrities, I promise, but this is like a Christie-customized LOVE package.
Do you love her as much as I do?

well, frankly- my boobs looked great while I was still nursing!!!
but it is the pregnancy that does in your breasts- whether or not you BF..
didnt she use to be with dominic .. how awesome would that have been.. little hobbit/elf baby
I get to bring my baby to work, will make breastfeeding so much easier! :)
The reason her boobs still look great is because she's still breastfeeding. Mine looked AWESOME while I was breastfeeding. After we weaned, though, they became floppy empty sacks. So give Evangeline a little time - she'll get post-nursing boobs just like the rest of us.
@ melissa i'm sorry that happened but not every one gets floppy breast... mine were still perky after feeding my first till she was 2 1/2
how great! i love this
You are such a nerd. But yeah... I have had a girl-crush on her for a while, now even moreso. :) She is freaking adorable.
I'm totally with ya here! LOVE this! And usually do not care about celebs!
