New Mom Secret: I Feed My Baby on a Schedule

It's hard being a new mom (or even an experienced mom to a new baby) and sometimes we do things we know we shouldn't, despite what all the experts say. But this is a safe place to share your secrets (PM me)—we'll never tell.

This Week's Secret:

My son is 2 months old now and I know I am supposed to be feeding him on command, but I am such a Type A person. I put him on a schedule. He can have 10 minutes on each boob and then he's done. I know it's the way my mom did it and we're fine, but all my friends are so into "baby led" feeding schedules that I keep it a secret. Is it really THAT bad?  — Anonymous

Whether or not this is that bad depends on your baby. Is he gaining weight? Thriving? If so, maybe it works.

On the other hand, it does go against what pediatricians and baby experts recommend. This is a good question for your doctor. Really go over this and if you're still confident that it's OK, then proceed.

Do you have any advice for this mom?
