New Mom Secret: I Don't Totally Trust My Sitter

It's hard being a new mom (or even an experienced mom to a new baby) and sometimes we do things we know we shouldn't, despite what all the experts say. But this is a safe place to share your secrets (PM me)—we'll never tell.

This Week's Secret:

When my 2-month-old was born, my mother (who lives far away) bought me six months of babysitting from a sitter she hired herself. I was so appreciative of the gift and of the help that I didn't really do the research myself. Now two months later, I'm not sure I totally trust her. She is fine, but we don't really "jive." I haven't told my mom or the sitter, but every time I leave, I feel stressed and nervous. My mom loved this woman and might be hurt and maybe even not allow me to pick someone different and still pay for it. So what do I do? — Anonymous

You have to trust your sitter. Period. A free sitter isn't very free if you can't leave your house. Tell your mom, tell the sitter, and find someone else. Stat.

Do you have any advice for this mom?
