I think we can all agree that babies are a ton of work. Take a small creature who is 100 percent dependent on you for every single thing in the world, and who doesn't really like to sleep for more than a couple of hours at a time, and you've got your hands full. While (believe it or not) I hadn't ever thought about the time and effort the most simple tasks take with an infant, one couple did and made this time lapse video of the very mundane baby bathtime.
So how come it's so fascinating?
I can't believe how many steps there are in making a baby sparkle like new. Two people, one baby, and still there are a lot of time-consuming tasks even with the double team. Cute ... and exhausting.
After watching this video, I can relate a heck of a lot more to those parents who don't think babies need a bath more than once week. That bathtime looks incredibly complicated. I've somehow blocked out what it was like to bathe my babies, but if I just remember what snack time was like when I was pumping, jeez. That time lapse video (which I would never show anyone, ever) would be a heck of a lot more mundane and much longer than this bath diddy. Also, not nearly as cute.
This video also made wonder how many times during a day does one touch their own baby? It seems like this baby was getting patted, scrubbed, and lotion-ed by a set of hands every second. And it's not like they were doing anything unusual. Just the basic baby bath.
And here's the understatement of the year: Babies, they keep you busy.
How cute is this?

I just love seeing the Dad take the reigns here. It really does take a lot of work! lol
I put my baby on the floor of the shower and use the detachable shower head on a gentle spray setting. Clean baby in five minutes. When the cleaning is done, I set the shower head on the bottom of the tub and let her play with the less than a centimeter of water that collects on the bottom.
I always gave my son baths in the tub with me. I would sit him on my legs and wash him. It wasn't a long process like this video. I dried him off on our bed since it was soft and put his clothes on. It took five minutes at the most. Then after I got him all shiny clean I would get dressed.
I SOOOOOOO miss those days. Waahh!!! My boys are 12, 7 and 5...no more baby bathtime for me :(
Yeah, this bath seems incredibly long to me.. I just put the baby tub in the actual tub. Filling is easy, emptying is easy, and my baby is clean in 5 minutes.
And that's with a happy baby who likes the bath! We need another version with an 18 month old who tries to run away while you change her and dress her and screams bloody murder at least half of the time.
I'm sure you can guess that I have no experience in that one. </sarcasm>
LOL @ the previous post. :)
Or try it with a baby & a toddler who both hate baths. Fun stuff right there!
